Buku Abelは、エチオピアの南部の非常に標高の高いエリアに位置する小さな街です。
エチオピアの中でも指折りのコーヒー栽培地域であるGujiのHambela Woredaというエリアに属しています。
他のエチオピアの地域同様、Buku Abelで栽培されているコーヒーも長年引き継がれてきた土着の品種がほとんどです。
今回のロットで使用されているDegaという品種も、エチオピアのGujiやSidamaを中心としたエリアで栽培されている土着品種になります。
寒冷な気候とその極端な標高の高さから、Buku Abelで栽培されるコーヒー豆は成熟が非常に遅く、チェリーが小粒なのが特徴です。
コーヒーの種子も非常に硬く、密度が高くなっています。
今回のロットは、よく熟したコーヒーチェリーのみを厳選したのち、そのまま96時間かけて嫌気性発酵を行っています。
プロセス由来のBlack CurrentやBlueberryを思わせる芳醇なフルーツ感と、Cacao Nibsのような香ばしさが特徴のコーヒーです。

Buku Abel is a small town situated in a very high-altitude area in southern Ethiopia, within the Hambela Woreda of Guji, one of Ethiopia's premier coffee-growing regions. Like other areas in Ethiopia, the coffee grown in Buku Abel predominantly consists of indigenous varieties that have been passed down for generations. The Dega variety used in this lot is also an indigenous variety cultivated primarily in the Guji and Sidama regions of Ethiopia.
Due to the cold climate and the extreme altitude, coffee beans grown in Buku Abel mature very slowly and are characterized by their small cherries. The coffee seeds are exceptionally hard and dense.
This lot has been carefully selected from only well-ripened coffee cherries, which then undergo 96 hours of anaerobic fermentation. The coffee is distinguished by its rich fruity notes reminiscent of black currant and blueberry, along with a toasty quality similar to cacao nibs.
