From the historic Daterra Farm in Brazil, we are proud to introduce the special auction lot "Virada." This lot symbolizes the culmination of Daterra's long-standing commitment to sustainable agriculture and exceptional coffee production. In 2003, Daterra became the first in Brazil to receive Rainforest Alliance certification, marking a pivotal moment for the farm and establishing a model for sustainable coffee production.

This batch features the rare Laurina variety, originally from Reunion Islands and also known as Bourbon LC or Bourbon Pointu. Characterized by its distinct tapered bean shape, Laurina is known for having about half the caffeine content of typical Arabica beans, resulting in a delicate and sophisticated flavor profile.

For this lot, fully ripe cherries were placed in stainless steel fermentation tanks and underwent Anaerobic Fermentation for 96 hours. This process involves sealing the tanks to exclude oxygen, allowing specific microbes to enhance fermentation and enzymatic reactions, creating a rich flavor within the coffee cherries. Following this, the beans were dried using the natural process, which maximizes the inherent sweetness of Laurina.

The result is a cup with complex sweetness reminiscent of raisin and craft cola, and the smooth texture characteristic of Laurina. With its rarity and limited quantity, we invite you to seize this opportunity to experience this exceptional coffee.
